The Patriots inactives for Week 6 have been released.
For the second week in a row, neither Shea McClellin or Brandon Bolden will be playing.
Neither will defensive lineman Vincent Valentine, or offensive lineman, LaAdrian Waddle.
Justin Coleman, the second year cornerback, will be inactive for the second week in a row too.
But Coleman isn’t the only hit to the Patriots’ secondary, their rookie cornerback, Cyrus Jones will not play either. After being the first player taken by New England in this spring’s draft, it’s been apparent Jones has struggled. Whether it’s been in coverage, taking deep kicks out of the end zone, or his most recent slip-up, being ejected for throwing a punch at an opposing player, his mistakes have been glaring. I cannot be sure if that’s the reason he’s sitting today, but if I had to guess, that’d be the case.
And rounding out the inactive list is Jamie Collins. Collins was added to the injury report Thursday with a hip and will not be playing today as a result. The extent of the injury has not been announced to the public. All we know is that it is bad enough to keep him off the field. Obviously this is a huge blow to the Pats’ defense, so let’s hope it’s a one-week thing.
*Note: For the first time this season, defensive back Eric Rowe will play. I’ve had to do a lot of talking about him in these inactive recaps thus far, but he’ll be out there today.
