Taylor McCloud — Pats Militia
Just two days ago, I was ready to retire from the world of video games. I just finished my freshman year of college, a year in which I barely turned on my PS4, and I was ready to close the book. I was looking into selling the console, and ridding myself of video games entirely.
Luckily, it didn’t work out. I misplaced the micro USB controller-charging cable, and let my laziness take over. I didn’t try to find, or buy a new cable so I could sell the machine. And, I think it’s for the best that I didn’t because TOM BRADY IS THE COVER ATHLETE FOR MADDEN 18.
This shit gets me pumped up. Like I said, I haven’t played video games much recently, but goddamn it, I’m going to start to.
Last year, when it was announced that Gronk would be on the cover of Madden 17, I was excited, but not nearly as excited as I am now. TB12 has appeared in a ton of commercials, and other things of that nature before, but this is different.
Growing up, I would be on edge waiting for EA to announce the cover athlete. Though, every year I ended up disappointed. I liked most of the players who graced the cover, but they were never my guy — they were never my quarterback. But, that’s changed. Tommy’s going to be on the cover of Madden 18 and I couldn’t be more excited.
However, I’d be remiss to not mention the Madden Curse. Almost everyone who’s been the cover athlete has had something go terribly wrong the following season. Don’t believe me? Here are some examples: Michael Vick appeared on the cover Madden 04, then he broke his leg in a preseason game. Peyton Hillis appeared on the cover of Madden 12 and almost immediately disappeared off the face of the earth. Gronk was on last year’s cover and he broke his spine.
See? Shit’s real. Or, shit has been real. TB12 is confident the curse will end with him, and he made a video to prove it.

Jesus, I hope he’s right.
